31st December 2013

It’s been 12 days since I got back from my third IMPACT trip at the University of Georgia.  It’s been 12 long days.  I’m fortunate enough to have served alongside 19 beautiful (wo)men who I am proud to call my friends.  I’m fortunate enough to have been able to give to my neighbors to the south 2 times in 9 months, and to my national community 3 times in 21 months.  In March 2012, I went to St. Louis to focus on HIV/AIDS.  This trip will forever be my go to example of what service can do for yourself.  It saved me from myself.  I went from being depressed to being extremely happy.  The people we met while serving were so happy to see us, and they were so happy to know that we cared about them as a person before a “victim.”   In March of this year, when I went to Orlando for Children’s advocacy, it was the most meaningful experience of my life, as it solidified my desire to work for/start up a non-profit with children in mind.  I met some of the best people I’ll ever know, and got to know some people I already knew even more.  Seriously, those 19 girls were amazing…even though I heard things I didn’t need to haha…

This month though…it’s amazing what being on the other side is like.  It’s amazing leading a group of 18 peers on a service-learning trip to a different state.  When we went to Fort Myers, I was nervous, but that was soon waved away by how fast my participants got to know each other.  I loved watching them work together with smiles on their faces.  I loved working with them to clean up the environment.  Stupid Air Potatoes.

I loved taking them to the beach and watching them unwind after a long semester.  I loved taking them on that dolphin/sunset eco-tour of the area.  I loved everything.  People like them are the reason I serve my community.

IMPACT will ALWAYS be my favorite part about UGA.  It’s given me the best friends, it’s given me meaning again.  It’s let me make other people happy.  I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

He’ll be famous—-a legend—- I wouldn’t be surprised if today was known as Harry Potter Day in the future—- there will be books written about Harry—- every child in our world will know his name!

Now that it’s all said and done
I’m going to miss Matt Smith.  He gave us a great run.  He was definitely the most human of the New Doctors.  Goodbye Raggedy-Man.

Supernatural and The Fray

This is going to be pretty bad, but that’s ok, it was fun.

Dean should just find the corner of First and Amistad.

Now he finds himself alone, a little lost and insecure, asking Kevin, who’s body is lying on the floor, asking him, “Why’d You Have to Go?”

Sammy Boy, the only one whose ever known, who he is, he is lost, lost to Dean.

He finds himself, calling out to them.  Step one, he says “we need to talk,” but no one came.  He finds himself wondering where he went wrong, he lost his friend, all the while; Gadreel was slipping past his defense.

Dean finds himself wondering How to Save a Life, for he’s in over his head, over his head.  The game is done, Sammy’s on his mind, he’s on his mind.  All Dean knows is that everything is falling through.

While this goes on, the audience knows.  We always know that sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same.  Maybe Dean wants them, Maybe he needs them, maybe he starts to compare them to someone who’s not there (Bobby).

But all at once, the crowd begins to cheer “Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same.”  Kevin is just getting initiated. We’d never know what’s wrong without the pain [of losing him].

As I write this I realize it’s probably bad, but “Perfection Will not come”
